VACATION!

We went on vacation! Yes! We went to the beach- Dauphin Island- with Saniel who were so nice to take us.

They wanted to borrow Trey's minivan. Originally, they had invited us to go but it would have cost $500 for us both to go for the week- then Trey lost his job at Mary mac's and couldn't go. So we, ah, renegotiated. They knew they wouldn't have had a good time had we not gone.
It was much warmer this time, very hot and sunny and the beach was once again deserted and beautiful. The water was bathwater warm. This house was not quite as fancy as the other house we stayed in last time but who cares, I thought it was just as nice. Alejandro, Brittney, her cousins Breanna and Chris went. Breanna and Brittney did that horrible 12-year-old girl thing where they get all cliquish and vaguely unpleasant. It isn't really a Good Thing to say unpleasant things about small children but all you really need to know about Breanna is that she says things like, "you is smell like fish." I was amply reminded of why I did not want to teach at McNair any more.

This time Trey and I did not fight.

This time Sandy and Daniel did not fight.

This time, no one fought.

It was extremely relaxing- we had a television set in our toom, and so I hid the remote control, but then Trey used the one in the living room to watch some show on which there were Ultimate Fighters squirting each other with ketchup and mustard, and something called "Jeepers Creepers 2" which sounded too stupid to describe.

This is why I continue to refuse to have a television at home.

We got to swim in the ocean quite a bit, I got a beautiful dark tan, ate, cooked rouladen, which Daniel did not like the way they looked- and lasagna, which everyone did like-

Sandy's Aunt Flo came to visit as well. This meant that for most of the time we were there, she was extremely irritable and stayed upstairs in their room most of the time. Then, when she had adequately recovered from Aunt Flo's visit, she came downstairs and did laundry.

I did not think they had brought that many clothes. She did like 3 or four loads a DAY. I don't know what it is with women, when they go on vacation the thing they want to do more than anything else is laundry. I did not drive however many hundreds of miles to do laundry.
So, that was what we did for vacation. I was thrilled to get to take one at all, and then we stopped at a casino on the way back. I gave Trey $10 and I took $10 and we went to play nickel slots.

First of all, I do not understand how the slot machines work. There are ways to change your bets and do different things to it which made no sense to me. I just put in dollar bills, and then pushed the button when it lit up. I kept at the same machine, whereas Trey bounced about. After a while, I had parlayed my $10 into $14.41 at which point I figured it was a good time to stop. It's not something I would go out of my way to do again. It was interesting, but not overwhelmingly so.

The refrigerator DIED, it is no longer repairable; Freddy put some new part in it, a coil and then that did not do any good. There is apparently some sort of leak in the housing which is not repairable. I did not want to buy another refrigerator at all; they are expensive and also I do not know how they are going to be able to deliver it. We went through this once before, and they could not deliver it- now they are making noises about not being able to deliver it once again. But we have no choice. I think we shall have to cut the railing and have it lifted onto the steps- I am certainly not going to do this myself.
